*Project Life - January continued*

Hello!

I am back again, as promised, with the rest of my January PL pages :)

We took the dogs for a nice long walk up some hills and enjoyed the scenery around us :) Some journalling about a trip up to the local secondary school (I teach P7!), some goodies arriving that are perfect for PL and tea at my Grannys! The bottom slots show my Studio Calico kit arriving (love it) and the label that came with my big white sack, hehe!

Another different sized page showing details of the girls dodgeball tournament, jazzed up a bit with some embellishements!

Here is what is behind the letter page - I used these small calender pockets by Smash to hold any bits and bobs I wasn't able to include in the pages e.g. receipts, note cards. I love how it adds another different size to the album too :)

On the back of the small calendar pocket I added a photo of my Granny and Mackie, one of our dogs! In the background you can see the AC paper I put on the back of the dodgeball letter just to jazz it up a bit.

Some photos and a bit of journalling about buying our wedding rings - love that this album will hold all these little details which some day can be read by our children or granchildren! Some funky stamps that I received on a package and a little bit about our Burn's supper to celebrate Burn's Day on the 25th!

Here is my last divided page for January - a bit of journalling about my wedding shoes (no pics as scared someone might peek...) and journalling about wedding invites and samples! At the bottom you can see pictures of my class when we went to visit the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh. We had been studying this as a topic and travelled 2 and a half hours to get there. Worth is though as the kids loved it!

And last but not least, my calendar page!

Thanks for looking :)

*Project Life - some January pages*

Well hello there...it has certainly been a while since I was last on here! I think it's fair to say that i'm not too great at this bloggin malarkey!

I'm here now though and I bring you the first half of my January Project Life pages :) I have totally jumped on the PL bandwagon this year and so far I am loving it!
Last year I created a Doc 2011 album which consisted of 1 calendar page, 1 layout page and 2 divide page protector pages (split into 4x6 slots) and I loved the end product. I had to move it into 2 albums as 1 album couldn't fit it all.
This year I decided that I wanted to create a yearly album(s) again, especially as I get married this July and lots has been happening with this. After lots of reading on the Studio Calico blog and other places, I decided PL was for me and I went for it!

I decided that it would be too much work for me to create a 2 page spread for each week - I just don't have the time to do that every week. Instead I have gone for doing it monthly and have as many pages/inserts as needed!

So here are the first half of my January pages (there's a few so be warned!):

So this is the first pages of my album! I have started to create the front cover page but it's not completely finished yet. The first page shows bits and pieces from the first few days in the new year - I included some things from our Hogmanay e.g our table sign and an advertisement for the evening. The little photo shows the weather outside on the 1st January and hoping that this is not a sign for the rest of the year, lol!
On the right had side, you can see a divider page - I have made one of these for each of the months and love how it adds a different dimension and size to the album!

Here is a close up of the back of the divider page. We went to see Snow Patrol in Aberdeen and this is a photo of the set list they played. I printed this photo out as a 12x6 photo and love it!

This photo shows the rest of that right hand page that was hidden underneath the divider page. I included our tickets from our flight home from Ireland, also a little bit about Christmas gifts we received from my folks when we got home to Scotland. The last few slots show decorations being put away but also a lovely new laptop we bought ourselves for Christmas :)

Over the page shows some details of our wedding prep - mainly the kilts :) Also a picture of a display the kids in my class made at school and then a few daily life things such as the dreaded dentist...

Here I switched things up by adding in a 12x6 divider page - this shows our Snow Patrol tickets and some photos from the gig. The photos aren't of a great quality as we were so far away but I stuck them in anyway.

And here we have  the back side of the Snow Patrol divider page! Again a ticket, photo and then a bit of journalling about it - that was the 7th time I had been to see them!

And here we have the page that is underneath the Snow Patrol divider. I want to try to include bits of news in my PL album as well as the normal every day happenings - here I journalled about the Italian cruise ship disaster. A few photos at the bottom to show new boots (yay) and reading on my Kindle. I am still undecided as to whether I prefer that or a book?!

So that's the first half of the pages - I think if I was to add anymore, this post would be massive! I shall try to get back and post the rest of January soon :)

Happiness...

Just a wee quickie to share with you all today - I created this layout quite a while ago but came across it again today and it made me smile all over again!

The wee lad in the picture is my little brother (he is now 14!) and I think he looks adorable! There are just over 11 years between myself and Jamie and I absolutely love having such a younger brother ( I also have another brother who is 21). I think this is the second time I have scrapped this picture - I just love it! I used the Studio Calico Lawn Party kit and add ons for this layout and used some Zing! on the stitching of the octagon paper and on the 'Happiness' chipboard.

I'm getting that Sunday night blues feeling...however only 5 weeks at work and then we are off again for school holidays! Can't complain really...

Back again...

More scrappiness to amuse you with!

This one is for Shimelle's Signature Challenge. For this you had to incorporate either a technique or product that you use a lot. For this I used my favourite Mister Huey on the background piece, I also used some Zing! which I am loving right now and I seem to be using lots of banners and my Tim Holtz Tiny attacher a lot recently too.

I have zinged all the chipboard letters and used 3 different colours for this. I also created a zinged sun with yellow and orange zing and zinged the wood veneer butterfly. This was also made with my favourite kit company, Studio Calico, so you could say that they are another one of my signatures!

I also tried my hand at the 3 is the Magic Number Challenge. For this I created 3 embellishments using paper, my Zing! and some punched butterflies. I also included 3 Crate Paper buttons too for good measure.

Not my usual bright colours but felt that the colours used went well with the pictures and the boys themselves! Again, I used a Studio Calico kit, Paper Moon, for this layout. I can't recommend Studio Calico enough.

Would love to try and complerte some more of Shimelle's Challenges but unfortunately I have to plan for school and also try and complete my Twilight book!

Kirsty :)

More Scrappy Challenges...

Shimelle's Scrappy Weekend has provided my mojo with just the kick it needed to get back into scrappiness! I managed a few during the Scrappy Weekend but wanted to try a few more - starting back at school this week meant I didn't have a chance until yesterday and today but so far I have managed another two challenges - yay!

This one was for the Grid It Up Challenge - I recently invested in some punch all over the page punches from Studio Calico and wanted to use the square punch to create a window type effect. The punches are really easy to use although my skills at lining it up straight are pretty rubbish. I tried to create the window effect as this picture is of one of the many snails who like to crawl up out front window after it has been raining! A little random I must admit but I love scrapping these kind of everyday type things.

The next challenge I completed was the Half Page Challenge...not something I would usually do but I loved it all the same! It's actually very hard to restrict yourself to half the 12x12 page but I hoped the misting didn't make the page look so bare.

This is also a very retro photo - I think I am only around 2 here! Myself and my parents were dressed up to raise money for charity, Children in Need I think. How the times have changed...

I may be back with more of the challenges depending on time...today is 11 months until I get married! To say I am excited is an understatement. We have been planning since May 2010 and now I can say the wedding is less than a year away. I love it!

Shimelle's Scrappy Weekend!

Happy Sunday all,

This weekend Shimelle has been hosting an online crop with mountains of inspiration for scrapbookers! I have managed to complete a couple of the challenges so far and hope to get some more completed today. I plan to have a nice relaxing day as it's back to school time tomorrow...after 6 weeks off, this is a bit of a thought!

Here is my take on Shimelle's Stickery Challenge:

I used some Crate Paper and Studio Calico stickers on this LO and also some AC Thickers ( not sure if they count but they are sticky!). I love the colours of this LO - I used Studio Calico Boardwalk kit and the pinks, greys and turquoises are gorgeous!

I also managed to complete the Starting Point Challenge and I loved this! The starting LO was really simple but effective and I just kept adding emebellishments to it!

So there are my two LOs so far - I have spied another few that I would like to try out before the weekend is up. I have also created my next sketch for Twisted Sketches so watch out for that appearing on Wednesday.

Kirsty :)
